The Mediterranean diet has been awarded the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage designation in 2010. Olive oil is the basis of Spanish cuisine, it has about 30 Denominations, mostly concentrated in Andalucía.

As for the typical dishes, each Community offers a good variety, we can enjoy “paella valenciana”, “cocido madrileño”, “gazpacho andaluz”, “fabada asturiana”, “merluza a la vasca”, “calçots” from Cataluña or “tortilla de patata”..
“Tapas” and “pintxos” are essential to accompany a good wine, a beer, a cider or a soft drink.
Sweets are also varied: “ensaimadas”, “mantecados”, “sobaos” or “mazapanes”.
